Extension privacy policy

This is the privacy policy for the Rental yield calculator browser extension. It applies to the extension only. The calculator on https://rentalyieldcalculator.co.uk is a separate service with its own policy — see the website privacy policy for how that site handles your data.

What the extension handles

The extension does two things, and only two things, with data:

• Website content: when you open the extension popup on a property listing page on Zoopla, Rightmove, OnTheMarket, or PrimeLocation, it reads the asking price shown on that page so it can fill in the purchase price for you. It reads the price only at the moment you open the popup, and only from those listing pages.
• Financial information: the calculator figures you enter — purchase price, rent, deposit, mortgage rate, term, and your running costs — together with whether the mortgage is repayment or interest-only, are saved on your device using the browser's local extension storage under the key ryc-state. This is so your inputs are still there the next time you open the popup. This information is supplied by you; the extension does not collect it from anywhere else.

The extension does not create accounts, collect personal information such as your name or email address, access your location, read your browsing history, or use analytics or tracking.

How your information is used

The listing price and the figures you enter are used only to calculate and display your rental yield and monthly cash flow inside the extension. Nothing is used for any other purpose.

How your information is shared

We never share your information with anyone. The extension has no servers of its own and does not transmit your information to us or to any third party, and it does not use or sell your information for advertising, marketing, or to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

Storage and retention

Everything the extension saves stays on your own device. It is never transmitted anywhere. Your inputs remain until you clear the extension's data or uninstall the extension, at which point they are deleted.

If you choose to open the full calculator on the website from within the extension, that is a navigation you initiate, and any figures carried in the link are handled by the website under the website privacy policy.

Security

We take reasonable measures to keep your data safe, and because everything stays in your browser's local extension storage, it is protected by the same controls that protect your browser profile. We do not run servers that hold your data.

Your choices and contact

You are in control of your data: you can change or clear any figure in the calculator at any time, and clearing the extension's data or uninstalling the extension removes everything it has stored. If you have any questions about this policy, email us at windlab@gmail.com.

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
